8/08/2009 - Mid Week Specials at PCCC
     PCCC now features three mid week specials. Wednesday is Ladies Day.... All non member women players may play 9 or 18 holes with cart for the low price of $15.00. Tuesday and Thursday is $15.00 for all non members for 9 or 18 with a cart.
5/04/2010 - Tuesday Evening Golf League
     The Pocahontas County Country Club will start its Tuesday evening golf league on May 4 at 5:30 pm and it will continue throughout the summer. All golfers welcome. The league entry fee is $7.00 each week. Cart use for those not having their own cart or a PCCC cart use lease is an additional $5.00 after 4:00 pm. For those without cart wanting to play nine holes plus league or up to eighteen holes plus league, the cart/greens fee is at the Tuesday/Thursday special rate of $15.00 plus tax and the league entry fee. The league format is a nine hole two person scramble with draw for partners each week followed by a one hole shoot out. Contact Doug Rider or the clubhouse at 304 799 7466 for further information. 6/23/2010 - Ladies League to Organize
     Golf is not just a mens game. Historically, Wednesday has been Ladies Day at Pocahontas County Country Club but for various reasons that has diminished. In an attempt to revitalize and increase womens play at PCCC any female golfer or want to be golfer is invited to a meeting at PCCC to hopefully organize an evening womens golf league. The meeting will be held on Wednesday evening June 23, 2010 at the golf course at about 5:30 pm. The café at the golf course will be available for participants to eat and meet to get organized, decide which evening would suit the best and what kind of golf format to play. Please call the golf course at 304 799 7466 if interested but are unable to attend or if you have questions PCCC Manager, Bob Keller says, The men have their league on Tuesday evening and the women should have there own time also. Bobs wife Pat says we have several new women in family memberships that are just learning to play and other experienced women players who could help them learn and have a lot of fun doing it. The husbands and kids can have leftovers, get a pizza or go to the DQ because it's Ladies evening at the golf course.
7/18/2010 - Marlinton Rotary/Scouts Tournament
     The Marlinton Rotary Club in continuing support of the Scouting Program in Pocahontas County will sponsor a golf tournament on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Pocahontas County Country Club. This will be a two person best ball format tournament. The entry fee is $30.00 per player which will include golf with cart, prizes and supper following the event. There will be prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt, longest accurate drive and drawings for more prizes. Registration for the event will begin about 12:30 with a shotgun start at about 1:15. Mitchell Chevrolet will be sponsoring the Hole-in-One competition. The first golfer who makes a hole in one from the number ten tee will win a new car. This event is open to all golfers and supporters of the Scouting program. Businesses and individuals who may wish to support the event and the scouts may also become hole sponsors with a donation of $25.00. For more information on this tournament call the PCCC clubhouse at 304 799 7466. Anyone interested in either playing or becoming a hole sponsor may contact the PCCC golf course or any Marlinton Rotary Club member. Golf tournament chairperson is Emery Grimes, and other committee members include Phil Cain, Ken Woods and Dennis Driscoll. While the Marlinton Rotary has sponsored Boy Scout Troop 33 since 1939, they also support many community groups and organizations. They gave two $1000 PCHS LPN nursing scholarships, give to school groups, Family Resource Network projects, gave $1000 to a Rotary project to eliminate polio worldwide, and supplied flags to the Veterans Honor Corp. The Rotary is an active group who raises some funds through the Pork Rind Fundraising sales. 7/07/2010 - 2010 Member's Tournament
     Pocahontas County Country Club Members Tournament Friday, Saturday & Sunday August 6, 7 & 8, 2010 Shotgun start Sunday 1:15 Entry Fee: $20.00 per person which includes cart, if needed, and awards supper on Sunday. Sign up and entry fee must be paid prior to playing the first round. Eligibility: All PCCC members and Special Ten Play Membership card holders. Divisions: Competition will be held in up to four mens flights, womens flight, and three youth flights including elementary age, middle school age and high school based on the grade the student has just completed . Play: Each participant will play one 18 hole round on either Friday or Saturday with at least one other tournament player. Results of the first round will place players into flights. The championship flight will include those who qualify from the first round who do not carry a handicap and all those players who maintain an active WVGA/USGA handicap. Total score from both rounds will determine standings. Scores for those with handicaps will be determined by both rounds net score. Rules: No coaching permitted during competition. No mulligans or gimme putts permitted. Lie may be improved only in your own fairway. USGA or local rules printed on the score card govern all play. Out of bounds or lost ball must be replayed from the previous spot with a two stroke penalty. Any ball not in your own fairway or adjoining rough shall be considered unplayable and must take a drop in the nearest rough but no closer to the pin with a one stroke penalty. Hole 1 water plays as a lateral hazard. Hole 10 water plays as a water hazard. Ties for first place will be broken by lower score on highest rated handicap holes.( i.e. 7, 18, 16 etc.) A tie for first place in the championship flight will be broken by play off holes starting at # 10. A maximum improvement rule for non handicap players will be in effect. Pairings: Sunday pairings will be available at the clubhouse by 9:30 am. on Sunday.
